The most asked questions we receive from customers are "How do I take care of this?" and "How long will the flowers last?
Most floral arrangements last from 4 to 7 days, depending on the types of flowers in the arrangement and the type of care they receive. Always remember that proper care is very important. Here are some specific recommendations to keep your flowers looking beautiful:
Make sure the arrangement has plenty of water containing a flower food. We recommend distilled water because it is free of most chemicals. If you use tap water, prepare to water in advance by filling a container and letting the water set out overnight so chlorine and floride disapate. In vase arrangements, if you notice the water/flower food solution becomes cloudy, replace it entirely. If possible, cut one to two inches of stem length from the bottom of each stem. Use warm water when replacing or adding water to the arrangement.
Keep flowers in a cool spot (65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit), away from direct sunlight. Avoid heating or cooling vents, areas directly under ceiling fans, or on top of televisions, computer equipment, audio equipment, or radiators. These items are sources of dry air, and can cause flowers to quickly dehydrate.
For boxed flowers or loose wrapped bunches... If you can't get your flowers into a water and flower food solution right away, keep them in a cool place. Fill a clean, deep vase with water and add the flower food, following the directions on the package.
For all arrangements... Remove any leaves that will be below the waterline. Leaves in the water will promote bacteria growth and ethelene gas, both cause flowers to age and wilt prematurely.
Recut stems underwater, preferably in warm water. This allows the stems to draw in water instead of air. Then place the flowers back into the vase and you are ready to enjoy them.
